About The Position

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to join our team. In this full-time position you will work at our client's site in Blaine, WA. As a member of our team, you will work in a schedule-driven, collaborative environment, working closely with our client and reporting to the Team Lead supporting a small projects program. This position will be based onsite at a refinery. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and designers to perform design engineering for projects. As a Mechanical Engineer I at Eichleay, your proficiency in process piping and fixed equipment with a basic understanding of rotating equipment is key to your success. In this role you will evaluate, select and adapt standard techniques, procedures and criteria. You may also participate in project meetings, model reviews and interface with other disciplines that are working on the project. Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering for Refinery or other oil and gas related industries.
  • Bachelor of Science and/or Master’s in Mechanical engineering.
  • This position is based on site at our client's facility. Successful candidate will work on site Mon - Thurs, Fridays are WFH (work from home). Successful candidates must be located in the area at time of application or willing to relocate.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical communication through email, writing technical reports and presenting in a group environment.
  • Ability to deal with change and demonstrate flexibility as required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to troubleshoot and solve technical problems with a team.
  • Experience developing and reviewing technical documents and drawings to support the procurement or modification of fixed and rotating equipment, including pressure vessels, tanks, separators, filters, heat transfer equipment, pumps and compressors.
  • Familiarity with relevant refinery standards, including but not limited to ASME piping and pressure vessel codes, various API standards and the NBIC.
  • Experience with both design and engineering support of the fabrication of B31.3 process piping. This would include performing basic flexibility analysis, specifying hydrotest requirements, and material and coating selection.
  • Ability to form and foster collaborative relationships within Eichleay and with clients and partners.
  • RSO Safety Training and current card or ability to obtain.
  • Client Safety Training and current badge or ability to obtain.
  • TWIC Certification and current card or ability to obtain.
  • Background screening including previous employment, education, criminal history, and driving record verification.
  • Participation in random drug and alcohol programs.
  • Candidates will be required to follow our clients' site-based rules and protocols regarding infectious diseases.

  • Positions will require in-person interactions and may require working on site in an office or field environment.
  • This position is subject to federally mandated drug/alcohol testing.
  • Candidates applying to Eichleay must have the ability to be badged and maintain a badge as a safety sensitive position and/or within the Building and Construction trade for process safety management governed facilities. This will require in-depth drug screening for all positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful background executing projects in a refinery environment.
  • Have PE license or able to obtain a PE license in the state of Washington.
  • Experience as a discipline lead managing a small team of mechanical engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, safety and environmental issues. Addresses those issues as necessary to ensure zero harm to all employees, clients, and contractors with zero environmental incidents.
  • Assure all mechanical engineering designs meet applicable codes and standards including company standards, API, ASME as well as others used in static and rotating equipment mechanical design and development.
  • Perform code calculations for ASME B31.1/B31.3, ASME BPVC Sec I and Sec VIII.
  • Prepare mechanical equipment descriptions, perform equipment sizing and prepare equipment data sheets.
  • Prepare both equipment and piping technical specification packages for vendor quotes and bid requests.
  • Perform technical bid evaluations and review of vendor drawings and documentation.
  • Check drawings such as piping isometrics, layouts, section views, pipe support details and other piping specialty items.
  • Select welding procedures, NDE, and testing requirements.
  • Select coating and insulation systems for equipment and piping.
  • Prepare the mechanical portion of construction packages.
  • Communicate clearly with Client Reliability Engineers and Field Contractors during scope development and installation activities.
  • Complete final job walk-downs for mechanical acceptance of installed scope and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
  • Effectively interact with all levels of employees, clients and vendors.
