About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer I is an entry-level role designed for engineers with approximately 0-2 years of professional experience. This position supports the design, development, testing, and production of mechanical components and systems. The role works closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to translate concepts into manufacturable, reliable solutions while building a strong foundation in real-world engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 2-5 years of professional engineering experience (internships and co-ops count)
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAD drawing standards and GD&T (basic to intermediate)
  • Exposure to prototype builds, testing, or production environments
  • Familiarity with ERP or PLM systems
  • Internship or co-op experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or industrial products
  • Knowledge: gained through college education proven by their diploma, learned through applicable company trainings proven with training completion certificates
  • Basic Skill Requirements: documented in employee’s resume, proven by their acquisition of a college degree

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems
  • Create and revise 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings
  • Assist with prototype builds, testing, and validation activities
  • Support production by troubleshooting mechanical issues and implementing design updates
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including BOMs, ECNs, and work instructions
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and tolerance analysis
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, electrical, systems, and quality teams
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for product design and manufacturability
