Raytheon is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to help lead new product development within the Electronic Warfare (EW) Mechanical Engineering section within the Vision Systems and Electronic Warfare Department. The section specializes in the design, integration, verification, and production of digital processor and RF receiver subsystems for airborne platforms. The candidate participates in the mechanical development supporting a variety of programs in Goleta, California. Key interfaces will be with other sections across the Department, other Engineering disciplines, as well as internal customers leading the supporting programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships
  • Experience in mechanical engineering design and product support through educational coursework or prior internship.
  • Experience with 3-D modeling and analysis using Creo or other tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with M/S Office tools i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Ability to apply basic principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field and general knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Knowledgeable in reading mechanical fabrication and assembly drawings.
  • Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) analysis for drawings.
  • Direct experience in developing detail mechanical designs and documentation packages for RF, Electronic and/or mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • The Mechanical Engineer I will perform conceptual and detailed mechanical design of RF products/sub-systems, High Density Electronic packaging designs, Antennas, and Electronic components/devices for application in ground, sea, and air‐borne defense.
  • Responsibilities include the design of structures, mechanisms, thermal systems, and electronic enclosures.
  • Candidate will be expected to follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program/functional supervision to ensure the overall design objectives are met with the design.
  • Contacts are primarily with the immediate section manager, team lead, project leaders, and other personnel (peers) within the applicable program.
