This team is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer for our Winston-Salem Seating Group. The role involves conducting product development activities and studies, analyzing tests, and producing sketches, parts, and designs, following all appropriate Mechanical Engineering design, safety, and qualification standards.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with 3D CAD
  • Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future. The company will not offer immigration sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in product development activities including engineering studies, feasibility studies, cost estimates, implementation of standard and non-standard specifications, drawing board layout and interpretation, and development of performance or maintenance requirements.
  • Follow all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs.
  • Work toward commonality and optimization of product & components to reduce design errors and escapes.
  • Test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess operating condition effects.
  • Develops data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.
  • Develops and designs detail parts and assemblies for complex programs with weight, machinability/manufacturability, and assembly/servicing in mind.
  • Resolves design problems of simple-to-complex scope to ensure project completion.
  • Researches, plans, designs, and develops mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, or heat transfer for production, transmission, and use of energy.
  • Analyzes test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and offers solutions for improvements.
  • Applies lessons learned from project-to-project, to further improve product designs
  • Track and maintain program-specific weight & CG for parts and modules
  • May evaluate and analyze various mechanical products to determine their cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
