Design, build, and qualify custom mechanical assemblies for Special Test Equipment (STE) supporting a next-generation space payload program. You will own the mechanical design of RF switching drawers, FPGA drawer chassis, unit transportation carts, vibration plates, EMI/EMC bulkheads, VPX adapter housings, and module handling fixtures.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related Science or Mathematics field.
  • Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required
  • Proficiency in mechanical CAD software (CREO, SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Experience designing sheet metal enclosures, RF-shielded assemblies, or rack-mounted drawer hardware
  • Understanding of SMA/2.92mm RF connector interfaces, torque specifications (8 in-lbs), and RF cable bend radius requirements
  • Familiarity with general test equipment: power supplies, multimeters, signal generators, signal/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools suite
  • Strong team player with a collaborative mindset and commitment to meeting/exceeding team goals
  • Ability to learn quickly, manage increasing responsibilities, and handle growing complexity

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with integration and testing of space flight hardware
  • Background in Special Test Equipment design and fabrication
  • Knowledge of RF frequency ranges from DC to 40 GHz (up to V band preferred)
  • Experience designing fixtures for environmental testing (thermal chambers, vibration tables, EMI/EMC chambers)
  • Familiarity with 19" rack-mount equipment packaging (EMCOR, Elma, Schroff)
  • Expertise in ESD-safe handling fixture design for flight hardware
  • Experience with SRR/PDR/CDR/TRR/PSA processes
  • Familiarity with failure review board processes and FRACAS for electronic systems used in space2x
