Position Summary The Mechanical Engineer (Days) - Maintenance in our Mentor, OH manufacturing location provides production with engineering support for current products and performs as liaison between Product Engineering and Manufacturing. This role will have a heavy focus on equipment reliability and maintenance with a focus on CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) tools and utilization, equipment root cause and troubleshooting, preventive maintenance (PM) management, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) tracking and improvement This position requires working onsite in our Mentor, Ohio manufacturing facility Monday - Friday. Hours are either Monday to Thursday 7am to 3pm & Friday 7am to 11am, or Monday - Friday 8am to 4pm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 or more years of manufacturing experience.
  • Working knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD).
  • Must possess excellent leadership, communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge and experience using Lean Manufacturing principles, required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a highly regulated industry (medical device, pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry), preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher level ) Certification.
  • Experience with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and working knowledge of Maintenance Excellence components.
  • Working knowledge of Minitab or equivalent.
  • Experience with FDA regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of capital equipment justification preparation utilizing knowledge of manufacturing systems and lean principles.
  • Potential to develop into a people leader in a supervisory role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform as liaison between Product Engineering and Manufacturing to improve new and existing processes, resolve problems, or identify additional requirements to existing processes. Collaborate with other functional groups such as Purchasing/Sourcing, Quality, etc.
  • Evaluate, develop and maintain manufacturing process specifications. Train Engineering associates as required.
  • Resolve equipment issues by troubleshooting; Identify root cause and implement effective corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and/or product quality.
  • Champion the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS), maintain preventative maintenance (PM) quality and compliance, track calibration needs and ensure timeliness and improve equipment reliability. Communicate metrics data to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform product cost estimations and evaluations of alternative production methods. Identify, evaluate, and perform Capital Equipment Justifications based on needs of manufacturing.
  • Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency; translate these improvements into safety, quality and cost improvements.
  • Develop facility layouts based on workflow, production requirements, cost, equipment, and Associate safety.
  • Manage special projects as assigned. Lead Lean events necessary for the project implementation including 2P and Layout Workshops.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending appropriate seminars, membership in associations, and subscription to publications.
  • Become the resident equipment expert. Raise the level of knowledge in the maintenance organization to decrease reliance on outside services to improve reliability and increase equipment availability.
  • Develop master skills list for the maintenance technicians for equipment.
