In this position, you will serve as the agency's in-house mechanical design expert, providing senior management with guidance on the impact of emerging technologies. A key duty of this role will be recommending updates to policies and procedures by evaluating the benefits and drawbacks of current mechanical engineering standards, practices, and materials. Your responsibilities will include preparing design data, specifications, and CAD drawings for construction projects, as well as performing site surveys. You will coordinate design activities with other disciplines within the bureau, institutional staff, external design professionals, code officials, and other relevant stakeholders. Additional duties include reviewing and approving mechanical drawings, budget estimates, shop drawings, and proposed construction changes. As a representative of the bureau, you will attend design review meetings and conferences with professionals, institutional staff, and other agencies to discuss findings and recommendations. You will also assess and plan the mechanical needs of the facilities, ensuring that operations and maintenance requirements are anticipated and effectively addressed. Interested in learning more? Requirements

  • Two years as a Mechanical Engineer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of professional mechanical engineering experience which required work on any structural mechanical system.
  • You must be in possession of a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
