About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Energy Team Leader to join our Generation & Energy Management Team in Albany, NY; Parsippany, NJ; Rochester, NY; or Syracuse, NY. In this pivotal role, you'll guide multidisciplinary teams and project managers, influence sustainable energy solutions, and help foster a culture of innovation, sustainability, and technical excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering experience required, with project management and technical leadership experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Expert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply best practices
  • Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws
  • Proven success as a leader-strategic, technically astute, and client-focused
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; persuasive and articulate in all settings
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and build relationships across the company
  • Strong experience with project budgeting and financial oversight

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a talented group of professionals dedicated to building HVAC design, with a particular focus on energy efficiency and decarbonization - keeping a pulse on team morale and engagement
  • Oversee a diverse group of engineers, including staff who have strong backgrounds in HVAC and plumbing design, energy auditing, and commissioning.
  • Oversee staffing levels, resource allocation, and operational activities to ensure optimal team performance
  • Develop and mentor staff to deliver high-quality energy management projects-on time and within budget
  • Directly manage projects of varying size and scope, from planning and proposal development to closeout and client satisfaction
  • Monitor financial performance, recommend improvements, and drive business practice targets
  • Communicate regularly with leadership and staff, sharing key wins, recognition, and performance updates
  • Champion quality control, risk management, and project audits to ensure technical excellence
