About The Position

The Mechanical Designer is responsible for developing detailed mechanical designs and documentation that support product development, manufacturing, and integration efforts. This role translates engineering concepts into accurate, production-ready models and drawings while collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams. The position plays a key role in ensuring designs are functional, manufacturable, and aligned with project requirements. This role operates in a professional office and production environment with regular interaction across engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams. Time may be split between desk-based design work and supporting activities on the production floor.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical design or drafting
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and mechanical drafting standards
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and cross-functional teams
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Knowledge: gained through college education proven by their diploma, learned through applicable company trainings proven with training completion certificates
  • Basic Skill Requirements: documented in employee’s resume, proven by their acquisition of a college degree

  • Experience supporting manufacturing or production environments preferred

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Design & Documentation Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings
  • Produce production-ready documentation including BOMs and part specifications
  • Apply GD&T and industry drafting standards to mechanical designs
  • Update and revise drawings based on engineering changes and feedback
  • Collaboration & Support Work closely with mechanical engineers to translate concepts into detailed designs
  • Support manufacturing by addressing design questions and implementing improvements
  • Participate in design reviews and support prototype builds and testing
  • Configuration & Data Management Maintain organized design files and revision control within PLM/PDM systems
  • Ensure design documentation aligns with company standards and quality requirements
  • Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, standardization, and documentation practices
  • Support process improvements related to design workflows and manufacturability
