We’re seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our fast-paced Engineering team in Pomfret, CT. Job description The Mechanical Designer/Drafter will be responsible for the development and preparation of engineering designs and drawings using SolidWorks or similar design software, writing technical reports, and ensuring design drawings conform to specifications and design data.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • College degree in engineering design and drafting technology, mechanical engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Sound technical background (hands-on) with logical deductive reasoning approach.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that safety policies, housekeeping rules and guidelines, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed.
  • Preparation and interpretation of conventional and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) engineering designs drawings and specifications for machines and components, tools, dies, jigs and fixtures for use in manufacturing processes.
  • Complete documentation packages, including component drawings, assembly drawings and Bills of Material (BOM), suitable for subcontracting fabrication activities.
  • Write technical reports, as required.
  • May assist in the construction and rebuilding of machines used in production.
  • Reviews, generates and monitors documentation for content, accuracy, dates, configuration and descriptions.
  • Maintains tools, gauges and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with provincial standards and legislation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
