The Mechanical Designer role involves supporting program efforts through mechanical and CAD designs, developing CAD models and illustrations, assisting with program development by generating Bills of Materials, soliciting quotes, tracking deliveries, resolving issues, and providing updates to Program Managers. Additional tasks include assisting in setting up, conducting, and evaluating lab tests, as well as supporting prototyping, hardware assembly, development, testing, and product qualification.

Requirements

  • Required Education: High School Diploma
  • Proficient in SolidWorks
  • 2+ years’ experience desired
  • Prior experience creating CAD drawings and models
  • Familiar with drawing conventions including geometric tolerances
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and creativity in solving problems
  • Must be able to read drawings, and technical diagrams
  • Self-motivated, able to multi-task, work independently with minimal oversight
  • Good communication and customer relationship skills are required

Responsibilities

  • Supports program efforts through mechanical designs and CAD designs
  • Develop CAD models and illustrations
  • Assists program development efforts as needed by generating Bill of Materials for assemblies, soliciting quotes from suppliers as needed, tracking delivery dates and on-time status, working to resolve issues, providing updates to Program Managers
  • Assists in setting up, conducting, and evaluating lab tests
  • Supporting prototyping, hardware assembly, development, testing, and product qualification
