As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for supporting program efforts through mechanical and CAD designs, developing CAD models and illustrations, and assisting program development by generating Bills of Materials, soliciting quotes, tracking deliveries, resolving issues, and providing updates to Program Managers. The role also involves assisting in setting up, conducting, and evaluating lab tests, and may include supporting prototyping, hardware assembly, development, testing, and product qualification.

Requirements

  • Proficient in SolidWorks
  • Prior experience creating CAD drawings and models
  • Familiar with drawing conventions including geometric tolerances
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and creativity in solving problems
  • Must be able to read drawings, and technical diagrams
  • Self-motivated, able to multi-task, work independently with minimal oversight
  • Good communication and customer relationship skills are required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years’ experience desired (in SolidWorks)

Responsibilities

  • Supports program efforts through mechanical designs and CAD designs
  • Develop CAD models and illustrations
  • Assists program development efforts as needed by generating Bill of Materials for assemblies, soliciting quotes from suppliers as needed, tracking delivery dates and on-time status, working to resolve issues, providing updates to Program Managers
  • Assists in setting up, conducting, and evaluating lab tests
  • Additional tasks may include supporting prototyping, hardware assembly, development, testing, and product qualification
