About The Position

G.W. Becker, Inc., is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer Assistant Level II to support our engineering team in meeting customer needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in 2D and 3D CAD design, technical documentation, and project execution. This is a full-time position with regular hours of work from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of overhead crane-related goods and services
  • Knowledge of mathematics, including principles and applications in engineering
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, models, and material specifications
  • Proficiency in 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques to maximize the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate patience, tact, courtesy, discretion, and tolerance to others
  • Ability to interact with individuals in a respectful manner and engage others in constructive two-way conversations
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and understand issues, compare data from different sources, and develop appropriate solutions
  • Ability to plan and organize work, set priorities, goals, and timetables to achieve maximum productivity
  • Teamwork ability, with the ability to actively participate as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks and performing work duties
  • Background in fabrication, shop, or machinery in producing a product, 2-3 years
  • CAD experience, 2D AutoCAD or 3D SolidWorks preferred
  • CNC programming or software experience
  • Experience in reading blueprints
  • Technical writing experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft products
  • Technical degree preferred, experience in the mechanical engineering field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience, 3-5 years
  • Current valid driver's license, safe driving record, and reliable mode of transportation

Responsibilities

  • Create 2D and 3D designs using CAD software for visualizing and planning manufacturing processes
  • Prepare detailed shop drawings that serve as blueprints for manufacturing and assembly
  • Review and validate documentation before it is released to production, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards
  • Input and manage bills of materials within ERP systems
  • Organize and maintain documentation and records for easy access and reference
  • Provide manufacturing support to resolve production-related issues, such as engineering design challenges, material shortages, and fabrication or assembly difficulties
  • Develop tailored user manuals for equipment manufactured, ensuring clarity and usability for end-users
