About The Position

NAES is seeking an experienced Commissioning Mechanical Lead to manage the commissioning and testing activities for a data center project in Texas. The Commissioning Mechanical Lead will oversee mechanical systems, equipment, and facility commissioning processes, coordinating closely with plant personnel, project managers, and contractors. This role includes performing site walkdowns, coordinating mechanical checkouts, and ensuring construction completion, punch list verification, and final client turnover. The position also requires leadership in developing commissioning procedures and ensuring safety compliance.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical commissioning and startup processes, including the ability to read and interpret corporate policies, plant drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present information clearly in one-on-one and group settings.
  • Experience in coordinating vendors and subcontractors for equipment and system checkouts, punch list management, and client turnover.
  • Competency in OSHA Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements and other safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in team collaboration, communication, and the ability to motivate and lead commissioning teams effectively.
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of mechanical commissioning experience in the power or industrial sector.
  • Demonstrated success in a Commissioning Mechanical Lead role on projects of similar scope.
  • CANDIDATE MUST HAVE DATA CENTER EXPERIENCE
  • Hands-on working experience with chiller systems

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 preferred.
  • Candidates with mechanical commissioning experience in data centers will be given priority consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the commissioning, startup, and testing of mechanical systems, equipment, and facilities, ensuring successful system run-ins and operational readiness.
  • Perform site walkdowns, system checkouts, and punch list activities, overseeing the mechanical system turnover process.
  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure completion of mechanical systems in line with project schedules and construction plans.
  • Monitor the installation, layout, and boundary identification for temporary power, water, piping, and air to facilitate startup and testing of mechanical systems.
  • Ensure all mechanical commissioning activities, including construction completion and client turnover, meet project goals and safety standards.
