About The Position

TSC is seeking highly motivated students who are pursuing a degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering for its Intern Program in Huntsville, AL, supporting the Radar & Precision Weapons Development Operation. These students shall excel academically and exhibit a true passion for their work while demonstrating a positive attitude. During this experience, students convert theory into practice as they apply classroom knowledge to practical work situations, as well as gain knowledge and skills, which will enhance future coursework. Our Interns shall have an interest in analysis, design, and manufacturing of RF/microwave sensors and systems including but not limited to radars/sensors, missile seekers, and communications systems. They will also have a strong desire to gain experience in the following areas: Mechanical & Thermal Design of Electronics Systems Electronics Systems Packaging Design for Manufacturability & Assembly Design for Additive Manufacturing Structural & Thermal Analysis Manufacturing – Traditional & Additive Rapid Prototyping Responsibilities: The Intern’s primary role is to support the full-time engineering staff with their tasks. Interns are given opportunities to get hands on, practical work experience to help them further excel at, appreciate, and understand the application of their college coursework. As the Intern gains more experience and coursework, they are able to take on more responsibilities and further aid the engineering staff. Listed below are some of the job-related responsibilities for the Interns at TSC, Alabama Operations.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited university and be in good academic standing
  • Applicants should be in pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Computer Aided Design utilizing SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Pro-E, or other 3D modeling software
  • Basic understanding of machining and electronic system manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read and generate mechanical drawings
  • Understanding and Application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

Responsibilities

  • Design of mechanical hardware and components in support of electronics systems development.
  • Utilize SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software to create detailed parts and complex assemblies.
  • Create and maintain mechanical drawings, ensuring proper application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Support the manufacturing, assembly, and integration of system hardware.
  • Design and fabricate specialized hardware needed for environmental testing phases
  • Work alongside full-time staff to solve physical integration challenges in military defense systems.
