The Small Engine Mechanic position is essential to the success of the service area along with the growth of all aspects of the power equipment department. The mechanic is responsible for exceptional service repairs on both customers and Murdoch’s owned equipment. Outstanding problem-solving and diagnostic skills are required with little or no supervision. To perform "start-up" operations on a saw or chain saw of any kind applicant must be 18 years old. (Not applicable to the assembly of saws as long as they are not turned on.) As a Murdoch's Team Member in this role, you will... receive on-the-job and online training for certification. provide your customers with the know-how on proper maintenance and operation of equipment - everything from lawn mowers and snow blowers to chainsaws and generators, plus much more. perform routine small engine maintenance and repair. prepare new equipment for sale. determine the cost-effectiveness of repairing versus replacing. assist with pick-ups and carry-outs. provide outstanding problem-solving and diagnostic skills to repair and service power equipment. navigate the computer to look up and order parts.
