About The Position

The position involves repairing and maintaining buses, cars, vans, and other district vehicles to ensure the educational process is not disrupted. Responsibilities include diagnosing both simple and complex automotive problems, repairing electrical and fuel systems, rebuilding engines and braking systems, and inspecting and replacing drive train components. The role requires performing regular maintenance according to preventative schedules, responding to emergency breakdowns, conducting safety inspections, and following instructions from supervisors. It also includes keeping detailed records of work performed and maintaining a clean and safe work environment, along with performing other related tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Must have 3 years of experience in vehicle maintenance work including thorough knowledge of diesel and gas engine management systems, anti-lock brakes systems, emission control systems, and engine diagnostic equipment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
  • Must be able to obtain an Ohio Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with school passenger endorsements within 6 months of appointment.
  • IF HIRED, MUST PROVIDE OWN HAND TOOLS
  • Must be able to successfully pass an Ohio Department of Education T8 physical, lift a minimum of 75 pounds and be physically able to climb, stand, lift and bend for extended periods of time.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States, at time of application.
  • Must be able to pass the Federal and State Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation report in accordance with Section 3301-83-06 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
