About The Position

John W. Stone Oil Distributor, LLC is the local leader in dockside, mid-streaming, and offshore fueling along the Mississippi River from Baton Rouge to Venice, Louisiana and into the Gulf of Mexico. Position: Mechanic Reports To: Mechanic Supervisor Worksite: Gretna, Louisiana. Work Schedule: 7am-5pm, Monday-Friday; on-call every other week for afterhours and weekend coverage. Essential Job Duties: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair engines, gears, pumps, and air and hydraulic systems, including deep well pump units, PTOs, marine engines of all kinds (Detroit, Cummins, John Deere, Caterpillar, Mitsubishi, Kubota, etc.). Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges. Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices. Identify and determine parts required for repair of disassembled units. Reconditioning equipment. Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe work area. Requirements

• 1 year experience as a diesel mechanic in marine environment.
• Must have your own tools necessary to perform essential job duties.
• Driver’s License.
• TWIC (Transportation Worker’s Identification Credential).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be able to swim.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

• Vocational or technical training.
• Specialized training or certification for Caterpillar and Mitsubishi engines.
• Experience in the marine industry with tugs and barges.

Responsibilities
