About The Position

The Diesel & Trailer Mechanic / Tank & Van Trailer Washer is a multi‑skilled role responsible for performing mechanical repairs on diesel-powered equipment, maintaining and repairing trailers, and cleaning/sanitizing tank and van trailers. This position ensures the fleet is safe, compliant, clean, and ready for service through high‑quality maintenance and consistent adherence to company and DOT standards. Key Responsibilities Diesel Mechanic Duties Diagnose and repair diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, cooling systems, and exhaust components. Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), including oil and filter changes, lubrication, and safety inspections. Troubleshoot and repair air brake systems, suspension components, steering, and driveline issues. Operate diagnostic tools and follow manufacturer procedures to identify mechanical failures. Conduct road tests as required to verify repairs. Trailer Mechanic Duties Inspect, diagnose, and repair semi-trailers, including structural components, brakes, suspensions, axles, tires, lights, and electrical wiring. Repair or replace landing gear, floors, side panels, roofs, doors, and other trailer components. Perform welding, cutting, or fabrication work as needed. Ensure all repairs meet DOT regulations and company safety standards. Tank & Van Trailer Washing Duties Clean, rinse, and sanitize tank trailers and dry vans using wash bay equipment, pressure washers, pumps, and chemical systems. Follow strict wash procedures (food-grade, chemical-grade, or customer-specific as applicable). Inspect washed trailers for cleanliness, residue, or damage and report issues. Maintain wash bay cleanliness and comply with safety and environmental guidelines. Perform minor component cleaning or replacements (gaskets, caps, fittings). General Responsibilities Maintain accurate records, work orders, and maintenance logs. Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies. Keep tools and work areas organized and clean. Work collaboratively with drivers, dispatchers, and supervisors to prioritize repairs and washes.

Requirements

  • Experience in diesel engine repair, trailer maintenance, or industrial washing preferred (willing to train in specific areas).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely.
  • Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including wet or humid wash bay areas.
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus but not required).
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods.
