About The Position

Perform repairs, troubleshooting, and replacement of fixed equipment. Routine maintenance work for fixed equipment mechanics consists of boilermaker, pipefitter, and welder craft skillset. Work will be performed both in the field and in a shop setting. This is for routine maintenance and requires a diverse skillset, performing a variety of work depending on the day’s schedule. Regardless of the craft expertise you hire in with, you will be expected to progress through boilermaker, pipefitter, and welder to reach master craft. You will be required to be on-call on a rotation. The job is currently part of a union contract, outside of basic refinery rules, personnel management will follow current contract guidelines. You will be expected to follow all safety policies and mechanical procedures for performing work safely within the refinery. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, and vision of the organization. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • 5 years of boilermaker or pipefitter experience
  • Current driver’s license

  • Walk job site on a regular basis, Must wear special safety equipment (PPE) while working and must be able to lift and put on emergency breathing apparatus and/or protective equipment, Exposure to chemical vapors, high level of noise or heat that may require PPE, Ability to use physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment or tools. May work in confined spaces (i.e. tanks, between compressors, vessels), Able to work in an industrial environment indoors and outdoors and in extreme cold and heat climates, Must be able to work safely and observe all safety procedures and rules, Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, move from ground level to higher levels, raise/lift from ground level and lift up to 50 lbs, apply up to 100-foot pounds of torque
  • Participates in available cross training to effectively develop skills in areas specific to other technicians
  • Shell & tube exchanger work – pulling bundles, hydro, torque
  • Field and shop fit ups

  • Utilizes precision tools and test equipment as needed
  • Take part in lifting and rigging complicated loads

  • Possesses computer proficiency such as: opening, creating, and updating content in MS Word documents and Excel spreadsheets
  • Routinely reacts to visual, oral, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
  • Ability to take callouts and work overtime is required
  • Ability to read and understand, analyze and interpret documents, equipment repair manuals, reports and federal, state and local codes and regulations.
  • The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions

  • Fill out permit to work requests and job hazard analysis daily
  • Take work direction, follow through, give feedback, and work as part of a team
  • Perform Job Hazard Analysis prior to starting work.
  • Request and receive safe work permits prior to starting work and ensuring compliance to all required PPE
