About The Position

The Mechanic Technician position will be responsible for examining various systems within a vehicle to diagnose and repair any issues. This entails running computerized diagnostic tests to help identify components that might be malfunctioning, interpreting Port Service Bulletins, performing mechanical inspections, and replacing/repairing defective components. This position must be open to working overtime.

Requirements

  • Perform mechanical warranty diagnostics and repairs Required
  • Correct major repair problems and difficult diagnostics tasks Required
  • Troubleshoot fuel, ignition, and emissions control systems, using electronic testing equipment Required
  • Perform port upgrade programs, official service campaigns Required
  • Align wheels, axles, frames, torsion bars, and steering mechanisms of automobiles, using special alignment equipment and wheel-balancing machines Required
  • Diagnose and replace or repair engine management systems or related sensors for flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) with ignition timing, fuel rate, alcohol concentration, or air-to-fuel ratio malfunctions Required
  • Test electronic computer components in automobiles to ensure proper operation Required
  • Create bill of material (BOM), record labor time, and write detailed repair order RequiredTesting, examination, adjusting, servicing, and repair of autos Required
  • High School Diploma/ GED Required
  • 6 years of experience of Mechanic or Technician Required
  • 8 years of experience in the Field Required
  • CDL and Sealink Certificate or License Required

Nice To Haves

  • 7- 9 years of experience of Mechanic or Technician Preferred
  • 10 years of experience in the Field Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical warranty diagnostics and repairs
  • Hazmat training
  • Heavy equipment repair
  • Correct major repair problems and difficult diagnostic tasks
  • Makes minor and major repairs to engines, chassis and appurtenances of mechanical equipment
  • Makes repairs, adjustments, or replacement of parts and directs other kinds of servicing and maintenance work required
  • Determines the necessity for new parts and equipment, and makes requisitions
  • Troubleshoot fuel, ignition, and emissions controls systems, using electronic proper operation
  • Align wheels, axles, frames, torsion bars, and steering mechanisms of automobiles, using special alignment equipment and wheel-balancing machines
  • Tune automobile engines to ensure proper and efficient functions
  • Repair, replace, or adjust defective fuel injectors, carburetor parts, and gasoline filters
  • Change spark plugs, fuel filters, air filters, and batteries in hybrid electric vehicles
  • Replace defective mufflers and tailpipes
  • Perform vehicle testing in preparation for adjustment
  • Testing, examination, adjusting, servicing, and repair of autos
  • Inspect for quality issues with units prior to shipping
  • Professionally and courteously interact with other employees, customers, and truck drivers concerning any defects in finished products
  • Inspect vehicles for damage and record findings so that necessary repairs can be made
  • Maintain safe working environment and follow all policies and procedures regarding safety
  • Review reports and observation of the efficiency of the shop
  • Keep up with knowledge of MSDS, EPA, OSHA regulations
  • Other duties as assigned
