About The Position
The Springfield Housing Authority, consistent with its equal opportunity and affirmative action policies, invites applicants for the Mechanic III position. Rate: $24.44 per hour, 40 hours/ week, M-F 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. Excellent benefits package. A pplications must be received by April 7th, 2026. Mechanic III Responsibilities: Perform unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks on buildings, apartments, grounds, and equipment. Works under supervision of an employee of higher grade who assigns duties and reviews work effectiveness and conformance to instructions.
Requirements
- General knowledge of building maintenance.
- Ability to read and understand written instructions.
- Ability to follow oral instructions.
- Ability to deal effectively with other co-workers and tenants.
- Ability to use and operate hand and power tools.
- Ability to prepare work orders and time sheets.
- Ability to work in unpleasant conditions such as snow and rain storms, infested places, cold and heat.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, kneel, squat, bend, stoop, climb ladders and steps, crawl, stand/ walk up to 8 hours per day, operate tools and machinery.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
