About The Position

TopSide Marinas offers room for growth, competitive pay determined by experience; and relocation assistance! The Mechanic/Marine Technicians responsibility is to perform the duties below on a regular basis and meet customer satisfaction standards as well as company sales and safety requirements. This position requires the team member to work 5 days per week and 8 hours per day. Seasonal schedule changes may take place at management discretion.

Requirements

  • Act with the highest level of integrity and maintain a positive attitude
  • High school diploma required
  • 3-6 years of experience in the performance of mechanical repair and installation
  • Ability to speak and read English and understand electrical wiring diagrams
  • Ability to use test instruments
  • Ability to use specialty tools as designated by OEMs
  • Must provide tools and test equipment
  • Specialty tools and diagnostics provided
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job
  • Strong work ethic and personal commitment
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and company goals
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
  • Willingness to work on a variety of internal combustion engines (diesel, inboard, outboard, etc.)
  • Diesel-only experience is welcome!
  • Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Lift/carry up to 100 lbs unassisted
  • Work at heights up to 30 feet
  • Work around water
  • Work in tight spaces
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, crawl, twist, push, pull, grasp, reach

Nice To Haves

  • OEM certifications preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair marinized engines
  • Repair propulsion components such as gear cases, stern drives, etc.
  • Diagnose and repair carbureted and fuel injected intake systems
  • Perform winterization and summarization of engines and boat systems
  • Solid understanding of 12V and battery bank systems
  • Operate diagnostic software
  • Installations such as new engines, pumps and others as assigned
  • Perform mechanical repairs on boat equipment including water systems, waste systems, steering systems, engine controls, etc.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills and abilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent
