For more information, visit hornblowercorp.com. Position Summary: The Mechanic Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and appearance of the City Cruises vessels.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience of vessel engineering and maintenance.
  • Must have basic set of hand tools.
  • Must know how to safely and properly use hand and power tools needed for the job.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully and safely perform installation, maintenance, and repair tasks for all vessel systems, including but not limited to main engines, generators, steering, hydraulic, electrical, lighting, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, water, and sewage systems.
  • Maintenance tasks including but not limited to engine overhauls, AC/DC electrical troubleshooting, machinery rebuilds, preventative maintenance, and hydraulic steering work.
  • Utilize power tools to accomplish designated tasks.
  • Checks, tests, and maintains automatic controls and alarm systems.
  • Assist with fueling, filling water, pumping sewage, and connecting/disconnecting shore power as directed.
  • Accept tasks and work orders from the duty Port Engineer and plans/implements execution.
  • Ensures that all vessels exceed the minimum standards for the USCG and all Federal, State, and local safety standards.
  • Ensures vessel systems are always in an inspection-ready condition.
  • Conducts environmental, operational, and performance tests on marine machinery and equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
