About The Position

Job Summary: The main responsibility of the Mechanic, Aviation is for the repair, maintenance and inspection of aircraft. Maintains records of documents required by the Federal Aviation Administration, flies all aircraft to test repairs made, detects failures and maintain aircraft in optimum serviceable condition. Responsible for delegating and verifying the work of the Assistant Aircraft Mechanic in the shop. Receives general instructions from the Maintenance Manager and/or Production Specialist reviewing work to ensure it was done in accordance with established regulations and procedures. Job Description: Provides strong leadership and overall direction for the safety of the organization in all areas of operations: Coordinates with pilots to review the status of an aircraft and forecast downtime. Updates, continuously, the Production Specialist and/or Maintenance Manager regarding current aircraft status and discrepancies. Reviews aircraft logbooks and component records for discrepancies and documents all required information in the logbooks in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, Code CFRs, and the General Maintenance Manual (GMM). Maintains, inspects and repairs aircraft as required. Complies with Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins. Approves the returns to service of aircraft after maintenance and inspection. Responsible for the cleanliness and tidiness of the maintenance area or vehicle, which includes properly storing and inventorying tools, equipment, parts and consumables as required by the GMM. Reports any inoperable or malfunctioning equipment/tools to the Production Specialist and/or Maintenance Manager. Inspects hangar, helipad and work areas to identify and remove Foreign Object Debris (FOD). Inspects aircraft parts upon receipt as required by the GMM. Communicates any operational concerns to the Production Specialist and/or Maintenance Manager. Drives or assists in the operation of company vehicles. Must be knowledgeable of the aircraft manufacturer's maintenance manual, aircraft inspection and maintenance Aircraft inspection and maintenance program, applicable CFRs of the Code of Federal Regulations, and the General Maintenance Manual (GMM). Makes connection adjustments, observes engine and turbine performance, as well as instrument and command control reaction. Examines all critical operating parts, both on the ground and during flights. Executes any necessary work in the fabrication or alteration of some minor parts or to the helicopter. Goes to the field as part of the helicopter flight crew and performs field inspections and repairs as needed. Must be willing to be "on-call" according to established department schedule. Performs other duties as assigned. Performs restoration work and participates in associated drills in the event of a major storm, as assigned, Follows all policies and procedures.

Requirements

High school Diploma or GED
Training in the concepts and programs specified in the GMM and company manuals in order to ensure compliance with applicable programs.
Attend manufacturer's training courses on aircraft structure, electrical plant and equipment, or have the required work experience in order to be knowledgeable and competent in the operation of aircraft in operation.
Initial FlightDocs training.
Required Exams (pass the following required exams for the aircraft classification you are maintaining): A. Knowledge exam B. Medical Examination
Technical work that includes the application of mechanical knowledge
Valid Puerto Rico driver’s license Category 9 is required
Permit to Operate Commercial Vehicle from The Transport and Other Public Services Bureau (NTSP, "Negociado de Transporte y Otros Servicios Públicos de Puerto Rico")
Driver's Record (DTOP)
Valid FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certificate.
