MECHANIC II RESPONSIBLE TO: Transportation Supervisor - Vehicles FUNCTION: To keep The Resource Center’s fleet of vehicles in safe operating condition by performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with good safety practices. SPECIFIC DUTIES: Assist Supervisor to order parts and maintain a small inventory with a minimum investment consistent with safety and economic advantages. To perform minor repairs and maintenance consistent with safety and economic advantages.To evaluate engine repair or replacement and consult with the Director of Support Operations and Property Management prior to ordering parts or performing work.Ability to use a computerized diagnostic tool and ability to make the necessary repairs whenever possible or contract it out to a vehicle repair vendor who specializes in the needed repair. Assist Supervisor in ensuring that vehicle inspections are conducted in a timely manner consistent with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Inspection regulations. To perform road service for disabled vehicles. To document the completion of work per established forms. To perform preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis. To keep The Resource Center’s vehicles neat, clean and organized so as to minimize accident potential, present a good image, and maximize output through efficient operation. Performs other related duties as needed or assigned.
