This role involves operating light-duty bench- or floor-type machine tools and equipment, including small lathes, power mills, extruding machines, drills or punch presses, power brakes, shears, or saws. The individual may be responsible for setting up and adjusting machining machines, as well as performing maintenance on them. Quality checks using prescribed gauges, jigs, and fixtures to measure close tolerances are also part of the job. Some machines may be numerically controlled, and the role may involve monitoring and verifying quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
