About The Position

THIS POSITION IS ON-SITE AND FOLLOWS A MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, 8:00AM TO 5:00PM SCHEDULE. CANDIDATES MUST BE AVAILABLE TO BE ON-CALL UNTIL 11:30PM. THIS POSITION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAILY OPERATION OF THE MEAT INSPECTION FACILITY BY PROVIDING DIRECT GUIDANCE AND SUPERVISION OF MEAT INSPECTION LEADS AND PERSONNEL.  THIS WILL INCLUDE ASSIGNING AND SCHEDULING ASSIGNMENT OF WORK, REVIEWING AND EVALUATING TIMELY COMPLETION OF WORK, ONGOING COLLEAGUE TRAINING, AND COUNSELING COLLEAGUES.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma/GED
  • Previous supervisory or managerial experience
  • Previous warehousing experience

Nice To Haves

  • Customs House Broker (CHB)
  • Experience working with government agencies i.e. USDA
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance and support to clients
  • Provide efficient and effective direct supervision of daily activities and operations
  • Stays up-to-date on Customs, USDA, and Deringer policy and procedure changes
  • Timely and accurate completion of all daily tasks
  • Report procedural changes, maintenance issues, and colleague matters to managers timely
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and team management skills through delegating, training and motivating of colleagues
  • May handle specific assignments; such as customer correspondence, refused certificate and labeling issue resolutions
  • Ensuring the safety and security of colleagues, building and equipment
  • Communicates effectively with colleagues, client base and USDA inspectors
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Utilizing various internal software programs
  • Handles exports to Canada using USD PHIS systems
  • Maintains SSOP, Food Defense Plan. HACCP Certification and other required document
  • Attends weekly USDA meetings with onsite Consumer Safety Inspectors
  • Maintains inspection log
  • Inspects facility and writes up SSOP report daily in order to open the facility
  • Trains new employees in meat inspection operations
  • Reviews and coordinates yearly rate increases as needed
  • Prepares and performs daily billing for meat inspection charges
