Requirements

  • Previous meat-cutting, butchery, or meat department experience required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and empower others.
  • Passion for craftsmanship, quality, and customer service.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and twist while handling product.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire meat department team members to deliver outstanding service and expertly prepared products.
  • Communicate daily priorities, assign tasks, and ensure operational and food-safety standards are consistently met.
  • Coach and develop team members on cutting techniques, merchandising standards, safety procedures, and service expectations.
  • Monitor freshness, product rotation, and case presentation to maintain the highest quality and visual appeal.
  • Support training for new hires and cross-functional team members.
  • Partner with leadership on scheduling, labor planning, and department needs.
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, inventory management, and promotional production planning.
  • Assist with cutting, trimming, and preparing fresh meat as needed to support workflow.
  • Ensure adherence to all food safety, sanitation, and compliance guidelines.
  • Engage with customers, answer questions about cuts/recipes, and build strong guest relationships.
  • Operate equipment and tools safely, including saws, knives, and powered equipment (where applicable).
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
