About The Position

Chevron’s Shale & Tight Business is accepting online applications for the position of Measurement Apprentice located at our Midland, TX, Orla, TX, Pecos, TX, Carlsbad, NM, or Hobbs, NM, assets through March 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM (Central Standard Time). The Measurement Apprenticeship is designed to build technical skills in the Oil Measurement discipline and gain experience in field operations. As part of the program, apprentices will assist in installing, commissioning, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating gas and liquid measurement equipment. This role supports safe and reliable operation of facilities and field assets by performing work on but not limited to Electronic Flow Measurement (EFM), samplers, wizard controllers, Coriolis , solar panels, SCADA, oil and dry flow meters, orifice plate, meter tubes, temperature probes, and various other equipment in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and safety procedures. Through a combination of structured training and immersive on-the-job learning, Apprentices are introduced to the complexity and criticality of work management, maintenance execution, and equipment servicing/repair. The position provides direct exposure to the Chevron Way Values and the strong safety culture that defines the Shale & Tight Business. Apprentices will work closely with a dedicated mentor, complete two assignments across different operational areas to develop a broad understanding of how teams and functions work together to safely deliver production and minimize downtime and will also participate in computer-based and classroom training. This is a temporary 6‑month field-based position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Ability and willingness to work day and night shift work, weekends, and holidays based on assigned work schedule.
  • Live within 50 miles of the work location or willingness to relocate within 50 miles of the work location for the duration of the apprenticeship
  • This is a Safety Sensitive Position. Candidates must demonstrate personal commitment to Incident and Injury Free Operations with a proven record in Safety and Reliability

Nice To Haves

  • Complete an Applied Associates of Science Degree in Math Computer Science, Instrumentation Technology or related field OR have equivalent education or military training OR Complete Technical training or Certification in Measurement, Instrumentation, Electronics, Math or related field with pervious oil & gas measurement or similar industry experience. Additionally , a minimum GPA of 2.5 in core classes is required, and transcripts or proof of completion must be uploaded to the applicant’s online profile
  • Previous experience with reliability, safety and/or environmental process related issues.
  • Previous experience in oil and gas working with high pressure gas and/or liquid measurement equipment
  • Basic knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and an aptitude for learning new software applications.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and internal and external customers.
