About The Position

Smithville Communications —Indiana’s trusted, locally owned provider of Internet, Voice, Security, and Enterprise data services, is looking for a Small Medium Business Sales Executive, MDU, to drive new revenue by leading sales efforts across multi-dwelling units (MDUs), community developments, and multi-property portfolios. In this role, you will develop lasting relationships with property developers, owners, managers and consultants. The SMB Sales Executive, MDU, will drive new revenue by leading sales efforts across multi-dwelling units (MDUs), community developments, and multi-property portfolios. The SMB Sales Executive, MDU, is empowered to plan and schedule activities, including in-territory vs. office time, in-person meetings, prospecting hours and execution, sales solution meetings with technical advisors, and on-site walkthroughs. This role will work closely with the Community Success Manager and internal operational teams.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years successful B2B or telecommunications sales experience; MDU sales experience strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of fiber technologies, network infrastructure basics, and MDU deployment considerations.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, construction, or technical operations teams.
  • CRM proficiency.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel required).
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry-specific coursework or certifications in telecommunications, real estate, or construction is a plus.
  • Previous MDU Sales Experience
  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • Familiarity with Salesforce

Responsibilities

  • MDU & Community Development Sales (30%)
  • Build partnerships with multi‑dwelling property owners, developers, managers, and industry consultants to secure new agreements.
  • Serve as the primary connection between Smithville and assigned MDU communities, helping strengthen long‑term relationships and support marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate across teams—including engineering, construction, and project management—to guide design reviews, technology planning, and build‑out requirements for new properties.
  • Translate property needs into action by gathering technical requirements, construction timelines, and design considerations that influence fiber deployment.
  • Support key agreements such as right‑of‑entry (ROE), marketing access agreements, and service expansion plans to ensure smooth deployment and customer success.
  • Business Development & Territory Growth (25%)
  • Leverage a multifaceted sales strategy through cold calling, in-person outreach, networking, partnerships, and community engagement to generate new MDU opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of multi-property portfolios.
  • Represent Smithville at local community associations, property management events, and relevant industry groups.
  • Consultative Selling & Customer Solutions (15%)
  • Conduct needs assessments to deliver solutions that align with business goals, property requirements, and technical feasibility.
  • Present technical capabilities and high‑level network design concepts to key property stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to cross‑sell and upsell services across internet, voice, security, and more.
  • Sales Execution, Reporting & Forecasting (10%)
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales targets and activity metrics.
  • Maintain accurate CRM data including funnel activity, forecasts, MDU project status, and contract progress. (Bonus if you have Salesforce experience).
  • Track all stages of MDU negotiations and sales cycles, providing timely updates to leadership.
  • Customer Relationship Management & Retention (10%)
  • Build trust-based relationships with key decision-makers across SMB and MDU accounts.
  • Provide ongoing support throughout the customer lifecycle, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Address concerns promptly and resolve issues in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Market Intelligence & Continuous Improvement (5%)
  • Monitor competitor activity, emerging MDU and commercial real estate trends, and construction patterns in Smithville’s service areas.
  • Identify new growth opportunities and recommend enhancements to sales strategies or product offerings.
  • Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
