  • Successfully served in a key developmental position at brigade/battalion level (i.e, Executive Officer, S-3, Operations Sergeant Major, etc.).
  • Relevant experience in Army Sustainment, with demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following areas: Logistics, Health Service Support, Human Resources, or Financial Management.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint software.
  • Familiar with current Army and Joint sustainment doctrine, regulation and publications applicable to this position prior to employment.

  • Experience using or supporting sustainment modeling and simulation systems (e.g., WARSIM, JLCCTC, JDLM, or related sustainment simulation tools).

Responsibilities

  • Exercise Design and Integration Incorporate current and emerging Sustainment doctrine, lessons learned, and best practices into the design and execution of all WFXs in accordance with FORSCOM Business Rules and MCTP Headquarters/Operations Group guidance.
  • Support scenario development and execution replicating various Operational Environments (OEs), including the Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE), European Theater OE, Korean Theater OE (KTO), Caspian Sea OE, and INDOPACOM OE, as well as future theaters under development.
  • Coordinate the allocation, placement, and correct simulation functioning of all sustainment units within the exercise database structure to ensure doctrinal accuracy and realism.
  • Baseline and Simulation Management Establish a sustainment baseline for every WFX in accordance with MCTP guidance; collect applicable sustainment data for Mission Readiness Exercises (MRXs) to meet unit training requirements.
  • Ensure sustainment functionality and simulation settings (WARSIM and supporting tools) are configured to meet training objectives for all participating forces.
  • Interpret sustainment simulation data and provide sustainment analytics, assessments, and expert insight to MCTP leadership.
  • Serve as the primary integrator for sustainment operations, maintaining the Sustainment Common Operational Picture (COP) across all work and response cells.
  • Coordination, Synchronization, and Adjudication Coordinate with Workstation Controllers (WSCs) and sustainment simulation staff to ensure sustainment operations are accurately portrayed and synchronized across the exercise.
  • Develop and implement alternative simulation or replication workarounds to mitigate shortfalls within sustainment models and tools, ensuring training objectives are still met.
  • Provide Sustainment SME input into Higher Command and Sustainment Higher Command (HICOM/SHICOM) orders; assist in writing, implementing, and executing those orders throughout the WFX ELC.
  • Conduct SHICOM coordination and provide guidance to ensure that command's sustainment functions support overall training objectives.

  • Prepare sustainment information, data, and products to support all phases of exercise design and execution.
  • Facilitate the Sustainment Workgroup throughout the ELC process to ensure synchronized planning and execution of sustainment functions.
  • Modeling and Simulation Development Develop and update sustainment-related content within the Wartime Simulation Model (WARSIM), including Played Items Lists (PILs), Rules and Workarounds (R&Ws), and sustainment modeling enhancements.
  • Identify sustainment shortfalls and propose improvements to MCTP's simulation architecture and scenario designs.
  • Strategic Partner and External Coordination Synchronize sustainment efforts across all participating strategic partners (Army, Joint, and Coalition) during WFXs; replicate missing or unavailable partner functions as necessary.
  • Coordinate sustainment planning and requirements with MCTP Operations Groups, Logistics Exercise Support Directorate (LESD), Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM), and USAF Air Mobility Command (AMC) to meet exercise training needs.
  • Participate in sustainment synchronization meetings and working groups across MCTP to ensure shared understanding and unified sustainment training effects.
  • Scenario Development and Training Support Review and coordinate Sustainment Mission Supported Event Lists (MSELs) and sustainment-related storylines with the MCTP Scenario Design Division (SDD) to ensure they meet all training and doctrinal objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to increase sustainment rigor and training value for participating units and commands.
  • Coordinate with MCTP Operations Groups for sustainment force requirements, including Exercise Support Manning Equipping Document (ESMED) and Simulation Control Plan (SCP) inputs.
