About The Position

T h e Placement coordinator is responsible for all placement coordination efforts for Muckleshoot children in need of placement through the Muckleshoot Children and Families Services (MCFS) program. This position serves the Muckleshoot Children and Families Services program as a whole. This position will work collaboratively with the MCFS Foster Home Licensor in assisting recruitment of foster placement within the Muckleshoot community.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited two (2) year college with course work in social services, human services, behavioral sciences or a closely related field; and two (2) years’ experience providing professional casework management to families and children; two (2) years’ experience working with Native American or diverse population.
Skill in: Client advocacy; maintaining non-bias in regards to case history and/or current situation, oral and written communication; technical report writing skills; working cooperatively within a professional manner with others; organization and time-management; capacity for self-preservation so as to avoid burn-out; operating standard office equipment, including personal computer, Microsoft programs and database.
Knowledge of: Basic foster home licensing principles and ethics; human psychosocial development within the context of the family, community and culture, understanding of techniques for facilitating positive client motivation; ability to make risk assessment decisions and understanding of Native American history/culture.
Ability to : Serve as an expert representative in a multidisciplinary team service delivery; maintain strict confidentiality; sustain wellbeing in the field of duty due to the nature of the work; perform home studies, recognize areas for risk indicators and establish model approaches for problem-solving; establish and maintain positive collaborative working relationships with clients, staff, agencies, and the general public.
Current and valid Washington State driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Prefer knowledge of foster care licensing practices, guidelines, and regulations.
Preferred: CPR-First Aid, HIV- AIDS Training/Certificate or within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with department Family PAL’s and other State and Indian Child Welfare (ICW) caseworkers to provide assistance, and support for the emergency out-of-home placement of Muckleshoot children.
Perform annual foster home health and safety visits ensuring compliance with licensing regulations and policies.
Documents visits, noting any need or deficiencies and offer solutions for any concerns founded with in the health and safety visits.
Work directly with the licensor in the writing of foster care home studies and will assist the licensor in maintaining compliance of the homes that are licensed under the Muckleshoot Tribes’ Child Placing Agency (CPA) license.
Work with Muckleshoot Children and Family Services Family PALs to coordinate child placement by maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of home placement availability.
Assist Family PAL’s in the writing of dependency guardianship home studies as needed.
Will strictly follow the Tribes placement preference as outlined in the Muckleshoot Child and Family Youth Code.
Assist licensor in the recruitment of foster homes and conduct pre-service trainings as a co-facilitator.
Provide on-going support to licensor and families to insure all licensed foster care homes continue to meet State and/or Tribal licensing standards as applicable.
Attend all required training as needed.
