About The Position

Join HII as we keep the world's most powerful Navy afloat! This position is to be a member of the COMNAVAIRPAC/COMNAVAIRLANT Material Control Assist Team (MCAT) as an Assessor. The mission of MCAT is to train and prepare Ships Force on how to follow US Navy instructions / guidance onboard CVNs to be better prepared for assessments and inspections. This is a full-time position, located in San Diego, CA.

Requirements

  • 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
  • US Navy shipboard background as active-duty Navy and / or as a contractor.
  • Experience with OMMS-NG maintenance workflows, documentation accuracy, and job tracking to support inspections, assessments, and funding decisions.
  • Identifying and documenting shipboard equipment material condition deficiencies.
  • Experience applying Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) principles, including technical documentation, configuration control, parts support, and lifecycle maintenance planning.
  • Experience conducting training and technical expertise Ships Force with the purpose of enhancing shipboard Supply service operations.
  • Experience being a technical trainer, offering in-depth problem-solving methodologies and valuable recommendations for continuous improvements during all Supply assessments and inspections.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal, written and electronically.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance, CAC badge and base and ship access.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a US Navy Instructor.
  • Familiar with ROCKATS concepts linking maintenance jobs to readiness degradation, operational risk, and deferred work impacts.
  • A current, active DoD security clearance.
  • One or more assignments onboard a US Navy Aircraft Carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Train sailors on how to properly execute their Schedule of Events (SOE).
  • Assess equipment material condition.
  • Document observations of identified discrepancies.
  • Conducting in-depth material condition assessments of shipboard systems, emphasizing galley, food service, and habitability readiness.
  • Identifying and document equipment deficiencies related to cooking, refrigeration, sanitation, ventilation, and fire suppression systems.
  • Evaluating compliance with NAVSEA, NAVSUP, and NSTM specifications for food service, hotel services, and shipboard living conditions.
  • Collaborating with ship’s force, engineers, and supply personnel to resolve material discrepancies before formal inspections.
