About The Position

College of Marin's courses in mathematics provide training in both pure and applied mathematics, leading to careers in business, research, and government. Many majors (such as physical and biological sciences, engineering, and business) are dependent upon the use of applied mathematics. College of Marin is looking for Full-time Mathematics Faculty who: have a thorough and deep understanding of mathematics beginning with arithmetic and progressing through two years of calculus, including statistics, differential equations and linear algebra; advocate for students and have a student-centered approach to education; have the ability to inspire intellectual curiosity and academic excellence in their students; have a commitment to equity and social justice; have experience/commitment to educating basic skills, ESL, generation 1.5 students, underrepresented minorities, students with disabilities, and veterans; are willing to learn/use best practices and innovative pedagogies such as learning communities and contextualized learning; are committed to maximizing effective uses of technology in their teaching both in class or through distance education; are willing to work collaboratively; have experience with student learning outcomes assessment. Requirements

A Master's in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics; or
A Bachelor's in either of the above AND a Master's in Statistics, Physics, or Mathematics Education; or
The equivalent; and
Demonstrated sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the campus community.

Evidence of commitment to professional growth and service which may include, but is not limited to, membership in professional organizations, presenting workshops, attending conferences or training, development of curriculum and instructional materials, membership in school/college committees or production of classroom-based research.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively and professionally with the campus community.

Responsibilities

Provide effective classroom and laboratory instruction using methods and materials appropriate to the subject matter
Prepare and evaluate all class assignments and examinations
Advise, assist and evaluate student performance and learning outcomes
Participate in program activities including curriculum development, evaluation and decision-making, program planning, new teaching and learning methods, and resource development
Contribute to development of program policies and procedures
Participate in college professional or shared governance committees and in departmental activities such as maintaining course outlines, program review, student learning outcomes assessment, other curricular development, etc.
Maintain and post office hours
Maintain and submit accurate student records in a timely manner as required
Maintain currency and knowledge in assigned area of responsibility
Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics

Medical Insurance:The District offers three plan options through each carrier; Kaiser and Blue Shield.Effective 10/01/2025, the District's contributions for medical insurance coverage are as follows: The District contributes between $998.40 - $3,485.86 per month towards your Medical premium for eligible full-time faculty.
Dental Insurance:Delta Dental coverage for employee and dependents (premium paid by MCCD).
Vision Insurance: VSP coverage for employee and dependents (premium paid by MCCD).
Sick Leave: Accrues on an annual rate of 10 days per year; possible additional sick leave is accruable for work assigned during intersession.
Retirement Pension Plan (CalSTRS): MCCD contributes 19.10% of employee's creditable earnings to CalSTRS on a monthly basis. Mandatory employee contribution for 2025/2026 is 10.205% - 10.25%,depending on original date of membership and prior membership status. Note: Neither CalSTRS members nor MCCD contribute to Social Security for CalSTRS-covered service.
Voluntary Retirement Savings Plans:Additional tax-advantaged 403(b) or 457(b) retirement savings plans are also offered.
