About The Position

The University of Maine at Augusta invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, beginning fall 2026. The successful candidate will have experience teaching a wide range of mathematics courses, and will have a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level. This position will be based on UMA’s Augusta or Bangor campus. The mathematics department is a service department to all degree programs and offers general education and degree-specific courses using modalities including in-person, HyFlex, Zoom conferencing, and online instruction. The successful candidate will be active in university service through student advising, curriculum development, committee activity, and community outreach. Duties of the position include teaching math classes affiliated with UMAs Prison Education Partnership (PEP), and may also include supporting the university's early college programming.

Requirements

• Doctorate in mathematics, data science, or mathematics-related field by the date of employment
• A strong background in mathematics education and pedagogy
• Experience teaching and/or tutoring mathematics, including work as a teaching assistant
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
