About The Position

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU. ‌ The Math Adjunct Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction for approximately 6 credit hours per semester. The instructor will prepare and teach assigned courses, which may include Quantitative Reasoning, Finite Mathematics, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, or Calculus, depending on departmental needs and the candidate's expertise. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to communicate complex mathematical concepts clearly to students from diverse academic backgrounds.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in mathematics or a related field (such as Physics, Engineering, or Statistics).
  • At least 18 graduate hours in mathematics or statistics specifically.

Responsibilities

  • Lead two sections of 100-level courses per semester, ensuring classes meet for the full allotted time and cover all required course objectives.
  • Develop a comprehensive course syllabus for each section that aligns with departmental standards and institutional policies.
  • Provide academic guidance through scheduled office hours and respond to student inquiries via email in a timely manner.
  • Design and administer exams, quizzes, and other assessments in coordination with department faculty.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit final grades by established deadlines.
