About The Position

Vista Meadows Academy is hiring a Math Teacher for the upcoming school year to join their team. The Academy is a 9-12 public school located on the campus of Vista Maria in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. It was founded on the belief that all children can learn if provided a nurturing and stimulating environment where expectations are high and support is bountiful. Serving a smaller student population in the Detroit area, the school provides support for student achievement by offering after school programs, college readiness assessments, free credit recovery opportunities, extensive summer opportunities, and a safe and stimulating learning environment. At Vista Meadows Academy, students are inspired to be college bound and career ready by mastering the habits of scholarship, character, and leadership. Teachers work with a team-oriented and dedicated staff and are provided regularly scheduled time for professional development, mentoring, and teacher collaboration. The Academy is looking for teachers who are creative, flexible, organized, and passionate about teaching students with unique needs. The position seeks a passionate and dedicated Math Teacher with a strong background in mathematics and a passion for teaching, who can create engaging lesson plans, foster a love for math, and provide instruction that meets the diverse learning needs of students.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field
Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities
Strong knowledge of math curriculum and state standards

Responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive math lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles
Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations
Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives
Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution
Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
Regular and predictable attendance
Supervision of multiple students at once
Establishing routines and procedures
Maintaining a safe and orderly environment
Create and implement instructional plans
Participate in continuous professional development
Effective oral and written communication skills
