About The Position

TransitAmerica Services, Inc. is currently seeking a determined Materials Supervisor in Stockton, CA to join our team. The pay range for this position is $96,700.00 - $114,400.00. Duties and Responsibilities: This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Perform all duties in compliance with safety, security, environmental, and regulatory standards, including SDS Right-to-Know and hazardous waste programs. Develops policies and procedures in the areas of procurement, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and ensures adherence to these policies and procedures. Recruit, interview, negotiate, select, and maintain suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct. Review requisitions; source products and services; obtain pricing, availability, and delivery information; and issue purchase orders, bids, and change orders. Develops and implements a system to evaluate vendors and quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service. Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. Compares nomenclature, stock numbers, authorized substitutes, and other listed information with catalogs, manuals, parts lists, and similar references to verify accuracy of requisitions. Prepares and issues purchase orders, bid requests and change orders. Maintains procurement records such as materials or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, inventories, and all documents concerned with ordering receiving, storing, issuing and shipping materials, supplies, and equipment including purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and receiving memos. Unloads and unpacks incoming shipments. Counts, measures, or weighs articles to verify contents against bills of lading, packing slips, invoices or purchase orders. Examines incoming materials for conformance to specifications, defects and quality assurance. Identifies, labels, and stocks incoming materials. Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with managers, users, vendors and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. Prepares receiving memos and enters inventory information into computer information system. Prepares and conducts periodic, special or perpetual inventory counts and enters into computer information system. Verifies computer information computations against physical count of stock, investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies, and adjusts errors in computation or count. Prepares reports such as inventory balance, price lists, and shortages. Plans layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover size, weight, and related factors of items stored. Responsible for maintaining, organizing, inspecting and cleaning material storage areas. Determines methods of materials, supplies, tools and parts storage, identification, and stock location considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, required space, security and safety. Stores material in bins, on floor, or on shelves, according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of material. Compiles inventory control records and information such as consumption rate and characteristics of items in storage to determine stock supply and levels and need for replenishment and maintains the determined stock levels. Coordinates, prepares, packs, loads outgoing shipments and prepares and maintains documentation and records associated with shipping materials. Directs salvage of damaged or used materials. Oversee equipment preventative maintenance, calibration of tools and instruments, and maintain service and compliance records. Sources and oversees subcontractors and monitors quality assurance and contract compliance. Acts as a liaison between TASI, and SJRRC, personnel regarding related issues/requests. Performs special projects as assigned by the Materials Manager, Deputy General Manager. Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be proficient in MS word, Excel, the Internet, mainframe operations as relates to procurement, and related software.
  • Two plus years’ experience in supervision preferred.
  • Two years of purchasing/accounting experience preferred.
  • Managing Processes, Inventory Control, Reporting Skills, Analyzing Information, Financial Management, Organizational Skills, Ethical Conduct, Project Management, Time Management, Ability to multi-task with sense of urgency.
  • Be able to travel to and from outlying points in Auburn, Sacramento, San Jose, Stockton, and Bakersfield.
  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • This position requires you to pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation to drive a Herzog commercial vehicle.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Regularly lift weight up to 50 pounds to waist height.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds to waist height and carry for a distance up to 10 feet.
  • Work in a confined access/space environment with a width of 24 inches.
  • Must be able to adapt to various temperature extremes including but not limited to heat, cold, moisture and wind.
  • Able to tolerate repetitive movements: bending and overhead reaching.
  • Regularly ascend/descend a platform with a height of up to 12 inches from the floor.
  • Regularly ascend/descend a ladder while carrying 35 pounds of equipment.
  • Regularly climb stairs while carrying 50 pounds of equipment.
  • Frequently bend, crouch, stand and sit for extended time.
  • Able to work in a safety sensitive work environment.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
