About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to hire qualified individuals with a desire to progress through the Warehouse Career Ladder (1-5) to the journeyman level. Employees shall be evaluated by the Warehouse Foreman and Materials Manager.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License required.
  • Current first aid card required (District will provide training).
  • High school diploma or GED from accredited institution.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds using proper lifting procedures.
  • Basic aptitude for math required.
  • Must have a good general aptitude and interest for this career.
  • Must progress to Warehouse Materials Specialist “Thereafter” level (Step 5) within 36 months. If satisfactory progression is not being made during this time period, the employee agrees to transfer to another job out of the Warehouse Classification if available and he or she is qualified, otherwise employment by the District will be terminated.
  • Is expected to become generally familiar with the PUD, its people, and the basic working structure of the warehouse operation. Standard progress is at six month progression rate provided all requirements are met. Will progress, if qualified as determined by the Warehouse Foreman and Supervisor, to Materials Specialist “2nd Six Months” level (Step 2) within a period of nine months.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift as demonstrated by satisfactorily completing a basic forklift skills test. Forklift certification required by the end of the first 6 months. Training to be provided by the District.

  • Actively participate in all aspects of our safety program, including but not limited to: Following all safety policies and procedures; Alerting supervisors and coworkers to unsafe or hazardous working conditions; Reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor; and Accepting feedback from supervisors and coworkers regarding your own safety performance.

Responsibilities

  • Computer proficient, familiarity with office equipment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft GP, Outlook, Electronic Data Storage.
  • Facilitate correct material requests
  • Navigate search aides to guide customers to proper materials.
  • Positive attitude/Customer service oriented
  • Greet and address needs of customers/public in professional, timely manner.
  • Gain understanding of part number designations
  • Differentiate TDSI, TMNI, TSNI, TTNI, PPSI & PSNI.
  • District shipping/receiving procedures
  • Fill out UPS, Bill of Lading, ROG form.
  • Compare packing slip v purchase order to confirm delivery.
  • Correctly issue/return/receive material (Unit of Measure)
  • Assign material to correct project ID/cost center in proper U of M as transaction dictates.
  • Ability to convert cable measurements (Pounds to Feet and Feet to Pounds).
  • Prioritize tasks/organization of material equipment
  • Handle customer needs, receive freight, re-stock shelves, and clean facility.
  • Returning tools to proper locations, maintaining good repair.
  • Work independently or as part of a group
  • Travel to warehouse controlled areas for material deliveries.
  • Come together in pressure situations to complete tasks.
  • Navigate Grant County Line crews/Hydro mechanics will require assistance from warehouse personnel in various locales throughout the county.
  • Safely handle material (physically & with equipment)
  • Ability to frequently handle material weighing in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Safely operate forklift and other material handling equipment.
  • Ability to properly secure material for transport
  • Experience in proper load securing techniques, allowable weight, overhang etc.
  • Work in extreme temperatures
  • Warehouses are not climate controlled; cycle counts/work orders can occur in the midst of the winter and summer months.
