Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond? The Pratt & Whitney organization has a unique opportunity for a position in our Materials SFC/Planner group in Asheville, NC. The Shop Floor Control / Materials Planner position requires working closely with their manufacturing business center team to meet enterprise goals and objectives as well as participating in continuous improvement activities that move the organization forward. This position will have detailed oversight of the operations and responsibilities including execution of schedule, material movement, and systems. You will lead and handle value stream transformation initiatives regarding strategic materials management architecture and implementation of lean strategies to establish a world-class materials team. SFC will be working directly with cell leaders, administration, materials, operations and as well as the internal manufacturing groups to assist in redefining processes, execution on business requirements and delivery to customer expectations. SFC/Planner will provide leadership and direction with emphasis on demand change management. A successful person will excel at forward thinking and ensure that Asheville is transforming to meet the customer demands of a difficult manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience and 5+ years of prior production/manufacturing materials
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
  • Work schedule: Onsite Weekend (Friday- Sunday), Will train on 1st shift for up to 4 months (could be mixed schedule for a while)

Responsibilities

  • Attend necessary tier meetings & transfer information to next shift
  • Scheduling and Scheduling Stability
  • Execute process and oversee activities through multiple cells
  • Establish standards and expectations for work effort and performance
  • Give constant feedback on performance to those standards
  • Implement lean manufacturing measures to ensure value streams and shop operations are always stabilized and/or to be able to identify areas of opportunity quickly
  • Preparation of commits based on machining OEE and value stream constraints
  • Communicate effectively with internal organizations to ensure the business is meeting customer demand and/or commits
  • Establish system architecture designs that consider customer requirements, resource availability, capacity, level loading, constraint management and other priorities
  • Work close with warehouse personnel to ensure cell has everything needed to be successful
  • Manage/oversee inventory cycle counts
  • Participate in making allocation/priority decisions on critical hardware
  • Flow/Synchronization within the value stream
  • Oversee materials/logistics issues
  • Delivery execution/error audits
  • Transfer of assets within Pratt & Whitney
  • WIP/Aged WIP management
  • Work closely with non-conformance parts to ensure process is followed
  • Help create and manage reporting systems
  • Utilize/operate Andon system in support of assembly floor requirements
  • Help manage engineering changes on the shop floor
  • Support efforts to drive cost & lead time reductions
  • Release of production orders to shop floor
