About The Position

Manages the material requirements planning (MRP) process to ensure materials are available for production and projects while maintaining optimal inventory levels. Coordinates with procurement, engineering, warehouse, and operations to translate forecasts into executable plans and aligns supply with demand. Ensures ERP system accuracy and supports timely material availability, minimizing shortages and excess inventory.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a 4-year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Typically requires 8 years of related experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience in MRP, materials planning, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and energy or industrial project environments preferred.
  • Contract Management - Streamlining the creation, execution, storage or renewal of contracts, with a focus on compliance, often via software or other automated means.
  • Freight Management - The process of efficiently and strategically moving freight across a network from its point of origin to its desired destination using various modes of transportation, intermediaries, and technologies.
  • Inventory/Material Control - The process of managing and controlling the flow of materials and inventory within a supply chain to ensure availability and minimize costs.
  • Logistics Management - The part of the supply chain process that plans, implements, and controls the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods, services, and related information from the point of origin to the point of consumption to meet customer requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Comprehensive understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes within an SAP ERP environment, including transaction codes, planning runs, and data interpretation.
  • Proficient in navigating and managing master data in SAP (e.g., material masters, BOMs, routings, planning parameters) to ensure accurate planning outputs.
  • Skilled in using SAP MRP reports and exception messages to identify material shortages, demand fluctuations, and inventory issues.
  • Experience integrating SAP planning data with procurement and logistics modules to ensure end-to-end material flow.
  • Ability to troubleshoot SAP planning discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions with IT or master data teams.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data visualization for planning reports and metrics.
  • Strong analytical thinking and decision-making skills to interpret large datasets and recommend planning adjustments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with engineering, procurement, operations, and suppliers.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy when managing complex material structures and schedules.
  • Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment, and proactively address material risks.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains MRP schedules based on production and project forecasts to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Analyzes demand signals and planning parameters to drive replenishment strategies and optimize inventory levels.
  • Coordinates with procurement, suppliers, and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery and receipt of materials.
  • Oversees material planning for multiple production lines or large-scale projects.
  • Develops strategies to mitigate risks such as supplier disruptions or capacity constraints.
  • Leads cross-functional initiatives to improve material flow and scheduling accuracy.
  • Analyzes supplier performance and negotiates delivery schedules for critical components.
  • Establishes performance metrics for material planning and monitors results.
  • Drives adoption of advanced planning tools and digital solutions for scheduling.
  • Provides guidance on resolving high-impact material availability challenges.
  • Partners with operations leadership to align material planning with business objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
