About The Position

The Materials Planner is an on-site position responsible for ensuring parts availability to support manufacturing at Kenworth's factory in Renton, WA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Materials Management, Operations or other related field preferred.
  • 2-3 years related experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people and functions.
  • Acceptable oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic math skills; analytical; detailed and organized work habits.
  • Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision in both team and individual environment.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, including conflict management.
  • Proficient PC skills including MS Office required.

Responsibilities

  • Determine production requirements for assigned groupings of manufactured or purchased parts by reviewing sales or engineering releases, historical data, shortage or exception reports, and other information
  • Issue purchase and/or shop orders to Kenworth suppliers to meet engineering change order (ECN) requirements; replace non-conforming or lost parts and to meet internal requirements
  • Reconstruct order board (weeks 0-2) as needed
  • Maintain proper inventory levels based on current inventory, historical usage, and forecast demand
  • Expedite order releases or shop orders to assure timely delivery of parts to support production schedules
  • Work with supply base with regards to: delivery, expediting, purchase orders, inventory, invoicing/pricing/receiving discrepancies, (un-matched receipts, supplier payment system, etc.), packaging, ongoing programs, and other related functions
  • Review aged invoices/ASNs over 21 days and work with material handling to receive accordingly
  • Participate in new product implementation with suppliers, Material Handling, Engineering, and Assembly Personnel
  • Monitor quality, service, and delivery issues. Take corrective action as necessary
  • Communicate issue/insight to Division Planner or Corporate Purchasing as appropriate
  • Resolve bill-of-material and on-hand discrepancies through research with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Materials personnel
  • Complete transactions (ITP) to ensure integrity of on-hand balances
  • Resolve supplier packaging problems
  • Participate in cycle count activities for applicable parts and adjust inventory records accordingly
  • Participate in special projects as required
