The Materials Planner I – Process Sciences is responsible for supporting material readiness and planning activities in a regulated biotech environment, with a focus on process development, tech transfer preparation, and GMP manufacturing readiness. The Materials Planner owns defined planning workstreams and applies analytical judgment to evaluate material availability, assess schedule and readiness risks, and recommend actions that support program timelines and documentation requirements. This role partners closely with Process Sciences, Manufacturing, Quality, Buyers, and Supply Chain Operations to align material requirements, staging priorities, and traceability expectations. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Supply Chain Operations. Workplace Model: Onsite

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, life sciences, or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in planning, materials management, or operations (regulated environment preferred)
  • Analytical ability to interpret inventory, lot status, and readiness data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and operational teams
  • Commitment to GMP discipline and documentation integrity

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Process Sciences, tech transfer, or GMP manufacturing readiness
  • Familiarity with ERP / MRP or planning systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Coupa, etc.)
  • Exposure to material readiness planning, short-term scheduling, or campaign support

Responsibilities

  • Maintain planning signals, work orders, and material readiness status for an assigned portfolio of experiments, materials, or campaign workstreams
  • Evaluate inventory availability, expiry exposure, lead-time risk, and staging readiness; recommend mitigation or prioritization adjustments
  • Provide input to short-term planning and scheduling discussions in partnership with senior planners and technical stakeholders
  • Coordinate with Buyers to align purchase requisitions and delivery timing to planning priorities
  • Analyze lot status, material usage trends, and readiness data to identify discrepancies or operational risks
  • Lead routine investigation of inventory and documentation conflicts and coordinate cross-functional resolution
  • Recommend updates to planning attributes (lead times, safety stock parameters, BOM references) within defined scope
  • Maintain planning trackers and status reports to support visibility and decision-making
  • Ensure planning activities and records comply with GMP, SOP, and data integrity expectations
  • Maintain complete traceability of planning and material readiness documentation
  • Support audits and inspections by explaining planning logic, readiness rationale, and documentation trails
  • Contribute to change control, new material onboarding, and planning workflow documentation updates
  • Serve as a planning point-of-contact for assigned Process Sciences workstreams
  • Participate in readiness, material review, and project planning meetings as an analytical contributor
  • Communicate risk assessments, readiness scenarios, and recommended actions to stakeholders
  • Operates with moderate autonomy within established planning and compliance frameworks
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment when evaluating constraints, schedule trade-offs, and readiness risks
  • Resolves routine planning issues independently; escalates high-impact risks with supporting analysis
