About The Position

Oversees part or all aspects of receiving, stocking, issuing, distributing and shipping supplies for hospitals, companies and services of all Carilion Clinic warehouses. Adheres to, performs and oversees all documentation and computerization required to insure efficient and accurate operations. Ensures efficient and immediate distribution and warehousing services to all affiliates. Provides general direction for team employees and assumes responsibilities assigned by superiors to help manage workflow. Coordinates precise logistical and delivery services to Carilion Clinic Corporate Warehouse customers. Coordinates the receiving and posting of all stock and non-stock purchases to the centralized Materials Management computer system. Assists all other warehouse employees engaged in the computerized receiving process. Regularly assigns, directs and inspects staff duty assignments and follow through to ensure that proper procedures are being practiced. Participates and at times leads part or all of departmental activities/meetings, which may include orientation of co-workers, new employees, customers, initiatives and inspection readiness. May participate in the hiring process, staff development and feedback. Completes all required documentation in the performance of responsibilities clearly and accurately as it relates to day to day operations. Assign or update aisle/bin locations for each item, notifying MMIS of revisions. Leads the staff when the Manager is not available. This includes basic day-to-day operations. Any Human Resources issues will be handled by the Director of Materials Management Operations when the Manager is not on site. Has moderate knowledge of the Materials Management Inventory Computer System. Is able to teach others modules required to perform their duties. Works closely with staff to ensure all bins are properly stocked each day prior to close of business. Operates and maintains all Materials Management supply systems where designated. These include standard inventory issues but also include par level supply systems specifically operated by the main Carilion Warehouse. Performs the duties of the Driver (Commercial Vehicle) when needed.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree preferred.
  • Supervisory experience in inventory control environment preferred.
  • Valid VA Drivers License with positive driving record required.
  • Ability to respond to patient supply emergencies in a calm and collected manner.
  • Ability to act independently with minimal supervision.
  • Solid team management player, both within the organization and at offsite client locations.
  • Proven ability to perform in a continually changing environment.
  • Ability to handle the heavy equipment of standard warehouse operations.
  • Successful completion of orientation and competency validation for position.
  • Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Possess a driving record within the scope of Carilions Driver Regulations that may require driving and delivering responsibilities.
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to problem solve, make decisions, and be creative in these processes.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time.
