About The Position

Dignity Health - Marian Regional Medical Center, founded in 1940, is a 191-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital in Santa Maria, California, serving over 250,000 patients annually. It offers a full range of services including a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, cancer care, orthopedics, and stroke care. The medical center is recognized as an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality High Performer by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, is a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center, and is the only Central Coast facility offering ECMO. As a Materials Tech, under the direction of Materials Management leadership, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient flow and sanitation of medical supplies and equipment. This includes daily disinfection of equipment/carts, receiving, storing, issuing, and delivering supplies, and preparing items for shipping. Key tasks also involve performing daily par-level counts, data entry for issued stock, maintaining tidy work areas, and participating in inventory/cycle counting. Success in this role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, proficiency in inventory management systems, and a commitment to maintaining a sterile, efficient environment and adhering to procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years or more experience working with large ERP systems.
  • Six to twelve months of inventory management experience in a medical setting.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Outlook and basic computer operations.
  • California Driver's License upon hire.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems.
  • Commitment to maintaining a sterile, efficient environment and procedural adherence.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient flow and sanitation of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Disinfect equipment/carts.
  • Receive, store, issue, and deliver supplies.
  • Prepare items for shipping as needed.
  • Perform daily par-level counts.
  • Perform data entry for issued stock.
  • Maintain tidy work areas.
  • Participate in inventory/cycle counting.
  • Conduct equipment disinfection and set-up per department policy and procedure.
  • Collect and stage patient care equipment per department policy and procedure.
  • Receive facility supplies, equipment and mail, ensuring all documentation is complete and any problems with the shipments are identified.
  • Document supply and equipment receipts in the Materials Management Information System per policy and procedure prior to staging items for delivery.
  • Sort and deliver inter-office, U.S. Mail and packages per hospital procedure.
  • Process out-going mail.
  • Provide courier services as needed.
  • Conduct specialty cart replenishment per department procedure.
