About The Position

The Materials Forklift/Heavy Labor Worker is an employee in the production department, responsible for performing manual labor and operating forklifts to process materials with the highest standards of food quality. This role is a member of the production team and requires the employee to notify management of any issues regarding food safety and general safety awareness.

Requirements

  • Forklift License
  • Ability to be certified by Classic Salads to drive a forklift
  • Ability to operate a manual pallet jack
  • Ability to adhere to all Classic Salads Food Safety and GMP Policies
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to work with fast changing priorities and keep up with workflow

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Classic Salads Food Safety and GMP Policies, including Basic Policies (TRN-0101, TRN-102, TRN-103, TRN-104, TRN-105, TRN-1061)
  • Complete Classic Salads Standard Production Procedures
  • Use proper lifting and folding boxes techniques
  • Report all deficiencies to management
  • Work overtime and weekends and holidays if necessary
  • Move product and/or materials manually or using a forklift as required
  • Report all injuries and incidents big or small
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Report any foreign objects while performing duties to immediate supervisor
  • Communicate with management and/or other employees
  • Be conscious to reduce material spoilage
  • Able to work in a cold wet environment 34-36 0F
  • Work/cross train in other areas
  • Properly store materials (cover with plastic, put in proper container etc)
  • Complete daily forklift inspection
  • Stack and lift boxes continuously as needed
  • Keep work area clean
  • Set up carton machines
  • Certified by Classic Salads to drive a forklift
  • Stay in assigned work area
  • Ability to operate a manual pallet jack
  • Stack and Lift raw and finished product containers/boxes 10-50 lbs occasionally
  • Team lift garbage cans 10-70 lbs occasionally
  • Lift empty pallets 45-85 Lbs occasionally
  • Sort and stack empty totes by color and size
  • Wrap and palletize finished product
  • Mark cartons and label according to instructions
  • Communicate with data entry employees and machine operators
  • Follow directions regarding product mixes and recipes
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): bump cap, hearing protection, hair net, beard net, eye protection (goggles), face shield, gloves, slip resistant shoes, wet/rain suit, apron etc.
  • Be aware of surroundings due to forklift traffic
  • Operate Baller machine
  • Use FIFO (first in first out) to keep appropriate material/product rotation
  • Assign all materials to order
  • Follow all OSHA requirements for lift trucks
