The Advanced Materials Department is a multi-disciplinary team that provides materials engineering expertise for every phase of a program. With backgrounds in materials science, chemistry/chemical engineering, physics, among others, the department has experience in executing a variety of efforts from R&D, to prototype development, to supporting design and build tasks for manufacturing. Beyond subject matter expertise, the department has the analysis equipment, multi-physics modelling capability and experimental lab space to support activities ranging from proof-of-concept experimentation to manufacturing support. Materials Engineer with focus on materials and processing applicable to high temperature materials for hypersonics applications Document materials and processing analysis findings and present results to internal and external customers as well as subcontractors Work with subcontractors to improve the manufacturing process of materials through root cause analysis methods Basic Qualifications. Bachelor’s Degree in Materials, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited institution with 4+ years of experience Experience working with composite materials, specifically carbon-carbon composites and ceramic matrix composites Experience analyzing and evaluating NDT scans of carbon-carbon materials Familiar with microscopy methods and techniques of engineering materials Must be able to read / evaluate 2D mechanical drawings and with a working knowledge of GD&T practices Strong verbal and written skills along with practical knowledge of data analysis and interpretation of results Must be a resident of North Alabama area or willing to relocate in order to work on-site at the Huntsville, AL office Candidate must be self-motivated and be capable of functioning effectively in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications. Advanced degree in Materials Science / Engineering Experience with manufacturing composite materials or knowledge of the composites manufacturing process Experience with inspecting composite parts Experience with CT scanning software, ideally Volume Graphics Proficient with root cause analysis methods such the 5 Whys and Fishbone Diagrams Strong organization skills Project Management skills If you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling. Requirements
