About The Position

If you are a Materials Engineerl looking for an opportunity to grow your career, this role offers the chance to support innovation and product performance on a global scale. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, you will help drive supplier qualification activities, improve testing processes, and support new material integration across Emerson’s global operations. This role will evaluate all types of materials including non-metallics (polymers, adhesives, lubricants, etc.), metals, ceramics, and coatings. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: • Lead testing and qualification activities for materials and components submitted by potential suppliers, ensuring alignment with performance, quality, and specification requirements. • Coordinate and execute a wide range of material tests—including mechanical, physical, chemical, and application‑specific evaluations—using internal labs and external resources. • Analyze test results, prepare clear technical summaries, and recommend actions related to supplier approval or required improvements. • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and Global Operations to establish test requirements and balance competing project priorities. • Develop, document, and maintain testing protocols, acceptance criteria, and supplier qualification procedures. • Maintain and update specifications associated with supplier material requirements. • Interpret and apply relevant industry and regulatory standards to material testing and supplier qualification activities. • Ensure safe handling and testing of materials in office and laboratory environments. For This Role, You Will Need: Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Polymer Science, Plastics Engineering (other engineering degrees will be considered if the candidate possesses 2+ years of experience.. Experience performing material testing, data analysis, or qualification work in a lab or engineering environment. Ability to learn and apply new testing methods and technologies efficiently. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects. Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize technical findings for diverse audiences. Ability to follow established procedures with a commitment to safe testing practices.
