About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Body In White Raw Material Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) responsible for managing and improving the quality performance of raw material suppliers supporting Body-in-White (BIW) components. The role ensures that steel, aluminum, and related raw materials meet automotive quality, regulatory, and manufacturing requirements. The SQE will work closely with suppliers, purchasing, manufacturing, and engineering teams to ensure robust material quality from sourcing through production. The Body in White Raw Materials Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for managing different supplier locations and parts to ensure high quality products are produced and transported to STELLANTIS’s Plants. The engineer will provide on-site launch support at suppliers' facilities to ensure launch readiness as required, leading up to and including program launch. They will also be responsible for managing post launch continuous improvement activities and provide on-site support at STELLANTIS assembly plants as required. The Engineer will also be responsible for working cross functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to ensure proper designs, suppliers, and manufacturing processes are selected. Typical parts may include any of the following: general stampings, hot stamping, welding, closures, hinges, sealing, vision and lighting, exterior trim, and electro-mechanical parts. Within our Body in White Raw Materials Supplier Quality Engineer roles we ask that our engineer’s drive change within both plant manufacturing and component suppliers to resolve complex component issues. It is the engineer’s responsibility to ensure component suppliers' processes are robust and capable in order to stay on track and manage key component quality milestones. Overall, the engineer will lead all problem solving activities with internal and external organizations, manage warranty with their suppliers, and ensure best practices/ lessons learned are applied across the several different vehicle programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical, Materials Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical, Biomedical/Biomechanical/Bioengineering, Chemical, Materials, Metallurgical, or Mechatronics
  • 8+ years of work experience in Quality, Supplier Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing or a related field
  • Must understand: Cold rolled steel, Galvanized / GI / GA sheets, Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), Aluminum sheets (for lightweight BIW), Thickness tolerances & flatness, Surface defects (pits, waviness, oil stains)
  • Knowledge of: Mechanical properties (YS, UTS, elongation), Formability (FLD concept), Weldability and Corrosion resistance
  • Able to review Mill Test Certificates (MTC), Understand material traceability systems and incoming material inspection plans
  • Ability to travel up to 40% within the NAFTA region
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite software

Responsibilities

  • Perform supplier quality systems and process audits and lead Supplier Improvement/Development Programs
  • Establish close relationships with assigned suppliers and actively drive continuous improvement activities
  • Initiate and follow-up on corrective actions and verify effectiveness on-site
  • Participation in launch teams, lead and coordinate APQP/PPAP deliverables for purchased components within the supplier quality group
  • Lead and support supplier APQP and PPAP activities to ensure all deliverables are being fulfilled
  • Work with Engineering and Supplier Organizations to alleviate discrepancies in product specifications and evaluate cost reduction opportunities
  • Assist in educating suppliers on Stellantis systems and requirements.
